The Art I Make

I make blind contour drawings.  This means that I look at something, and draw what I see without looking at the drawing.  While some people would say it is cheating to pick up your pencil I do, simply because its very hard to draw eyes or letters without picking up your pencil.  I started drawing my hands in different positions and moved on to feet, then my face, then animals, eventually still-life setups.  After drawing in pencil, I trace the drawing with pen and ink, and create something around the figure.  In most of my drawings you can see which ones I did first and which are more recent.  The first ones have cooler colors, waving lines and are done in water color.  The more recent ones have warmer colors, splatters, explosion effects, and intense contrasts; some are even done in tissue paper.

And now that you know what I do, you can see the transformations in my pieces of art as I post them here.

Till next time, Live Long and Paint!
